Create a compensation cycle

Set up a new compensation cycle for your organisation.

To create a new compensation cycle for your organisation, watch the video or follow the steps below.


Create a compensation cycle

  1. From the dashboard menu, search for and select Pay Planner.

  2. Click the Cycles tab, then click New cycle.

  3. Complete the wizard using the guidance below.

  4. Click Create.

  1. Fill in the cycleโ€™s Name and Description.

  2. Select the Pay Types to include in the cycle.

  3. Select Pay Effective Dates.

  4. Add Collaborators if required.

Setup

  1. Select a Snapshot Date.

  2. Select your Cycle Currency.

  3. Select whether you want the budgeting method to be Uniform or Flexible.

Eligibility

Filter the employees included in the cycle.

  1. Set up eligibility rules, to filter the employees included.

  2. Set up manual overrides if required.

Base pay

  1. Fill in your Base Pay Budget.

  2. Set a Holdback Amount, to cover budget overruns if required.

Bonus

  1. Select the Bonus period start date.

  2. Set your company's Target Achievement Percentage.

  3. Set a Holdback amount if required.


Complete the cycle set up

After you create the cycle, it opens automatically. You can review the criteria set up and make updates, add collaborators, and check cycle data before adding your timeline, pay philosophy, and creating manager assignments.

A cycle contains the following tabs you can use to complete the set up.

Create a timeline

The timeline is a visual roadmap for your compensation cycle with key milestones and deadlines. To create a timeline, follow the steps below.

  1. Click the Timeline tab, then click Add milestones.

  2. Enter the Cycle end date.

  3. Adjust the stage durations and end dates, as required.

  4. Click Save.

Set assignments

You need to assign managers to oversee compensation decisions for their teams. To do this, follow the steps below.

  1. Click the Assignment tab, then click Set assignments.

  2. Tasks are automatically assigned based on your organisation and supervisory hierarchies.

  3. This can be customised. For example, you may need to reassign a task or add supporting users to ensure coverage.

  4. Click Assignee and select the appropriate manager for each level.

  5. Click Save.


Start allocation

After you complete the set up of your cycle, you need to move your compensation cycle to the Allocation stage.

To start allocation, follow the steps below.

  1. Click the Assignment tab, then click Set assignments.

  2. Click Start allocation.
