There are a number of benefits to adding an Insight Report as a Widget on one of the Portal Dashboards:
The benefit of doing this is that you don't have to roll out Insight to users.
There is also the possibility of placing the Insight widget next to another widget which has pertinent data.
Users will not be able to access Insight itself via the widget, so will be restricted to the type of data reports writer/administrator has chosen to share with them.
πNote: If a report is expected to take several minutes to complete, it may add unexpected delays for users as soon as they enter a Dashboard where the widget has been placed on the first tab of that dashboard.
In order to prevent such delays, users may need to add these types of report widgets on the additional tabs on the dashboard in question. The Widget will display a timestamp for the visible data, if a real-time representation of data is required there is a refresh button within the actions tab of the widget.
To save a report as a widget, follow the steps below:
Within XD Insight, go to the report in question.
Select Edit Mode then select Settings from the dropdown list.
Enable the Make Data Available as Widget setting then navigate to Dashboard Configuration.
Select Dashboard to add this widget to and search for it under the Tab Widgets section of the screen.
